*Van Nuys, CA Production

NOTE: Research found many discussions regarding serial numbers.  Most allude to Van Nuys production instruments using only an “S” pre-fix, and all Dallas production using only an “A” pre-fix.  However I did find discussions that Tom Anderson had seen both” S” and “A” pre-fix on Van Nuys Shecter's. Tom also suggested that there were almost complete guitars, with Van Nuys parts in Dallas, with Dallas pre-fixes.  Another suggestion from Tom was that all guitars in his era (up to mid 1984) had a serial starting with either “S” or “A” pre-fix.  Tom went on to suggest Schecter actually built some instruments in the Van Nuys era with Japanese bodies and necks.

I believe by the mix of Van Nuys and Dallas parts, and research, this PT is very late Van Nuys, or very early Dallas production, most likely 1983.  This would be consistent with the second owner, who purchased the guitar used in New York in 1985.
